The Ring of Kerry

Your tour of the Ring of Kerry begins and ends at Carrig…

The Ring of Kerry offers a picturesque drive around the largest of the Kerry Peninsulas. This 166km route can be travelled in three and a half  hours, but with stops, is best enjoyed as a full day trip. The drive takes you through a number of towns and villages along the way.

Enjoy wild Atlantic views at Mountain Stage between the village of Glenbeigh and Cahersiveen, before travelling onto Waterville with its world-renowned links golf course.

From Waterville, head up towards Coomakista Pass and down towards the village of Caherdaniel. Take time to visit Derrynane House, home of ‘The Liberator’, Daniel O’Connell, take a stroll along the idyllic beach.

From Caherdaniel, travel along the coast to the colourful village of Sneem. The road then leads towards the pretty town of Kenmare (known as Neidín, Irish for ‘The Little Nest’).

From Kenmare, head inland toward Killarney National Park, where spectacular views of the MacGillycuddy Reeks and Torc mountain await. Travel over Molls Gap and down towards Ladies View. Take time here to enjoy the vista of the park below you. Take care on the narrow road ahead as you continue to Killarney. 

After Killarney, continue west toward the town of Killorglin, home of the annual ‘Puck Fair’. 

On completion of your tour of the Ring of Kerry you will arrive back at Carrig Country House in time to sample a sumptuous meal at our award winning  Lakeside restaurant.
